A Unique "Glassco" and "Bollen" Cover

1859 (23 Aug.) blue envelope to Scotland, bearing 1853-55 4c. blue with good to large margins on three sides, touched at bottom right, centrally cancelled by Demerara c.d.s., in combination with Great Britain 1856 6d. lilac cancelled by "A03" obliterator (neither are tied), showing red London Paid transit c.d.s. (15.9) with arrival datestamp on reverse. One of the great British Guiana rarities. Only this cover and a large piece are recorded bearing this franking. R.P.S. Certificate (1959). Photo

Note: The British Guiana 4c. was applied to pay the Inland Postage and the British 6d. to pay the overseas rate.
