1879-94 postal history selection (5) (26 Jan.) soldier's envelope to London, headed "From No 5560 Sergt F. Dunkley R.A.", countersigned by Commanding Officer, bearing 9pi. tied by "rangoon c.r.h./r-i/i" duplex (Type KD3; latest recorded date) and showing, on reverse, Rangoon, Calcutta and arrival datestamps; the envelope with horizontal creases which crosses the 9pi. 1892 (May) envelope (with letter) to England from "6365 Pte G.H. Housman"E" Coy. 4th Battalion Kings Royal Rifles Thayetmyo", countersigned by Commanding Officer, bearing 9p. tied by "thayetmyo" squared-circle d.s., the envelope torn and damaged in transit with "found open and officially sealed" label at left cancelled by Bromsgrove c.d.s. with manuscript "Received from Birmingham in this state" alongside on reverse; the letter (portion missing due to damage in mail) includes description of expedition to Fort Sadon and Chin Hills related to him by soldier in Devonshire Regiment. Mixed condition as expected.
