1630 (30 June) entire letter from Thomas Bate (on behalf of Sir Matthew de Renzi) in Cork "To the worppll. Peeter Richante, Merchant Stranger &c. London being a manuscript second Bill of Exchange for £100, endorsed "2a" (similar to Robson Lowe's type 61 which he believed to be a recipient's endorsement) to denote this and carried by the Merchant Strangers postal service. One of very few examples crossing the Irish Sea prior to 1650. Exceptionally fine and clean, rare. Photo
