The James Song FRPSL Large Gold Medal Collection of The Chin Hills District
After the Japanese occupied Rangoon in March 1942, an emergency mail service was organised by Major A.G. McCall, District Commissioner, Lushai Hills at Aijal.
The postal runners made an eight day journey from Haka, Tiddim and Fort White via Falam to Aijal in Assam and thence to India.
By July stamps overprinted "service"
had become exhausted and ordinary postage stamps overprinted "ohms" by typewriter were approved

1942 (19 Sept.) large brown OHMS envelope (405x305mm; folded for display) to Fort White, bearing type-written "ohms" on 1½a. turquoise-green marginal block of six (largest known multiple) with Type 6, 2a.6p. claret marginal vertical pair with typed and handstamped Type 10, the latter in violet, and 3a.6p. bright blue and blue corner marginal vertical strip of eight (largest strip recorded) with Type 4, all neatly cancelled by single-ring d.s. and showing arrival datestamp (19.9) on reverse. A most remarkable franking. Photo
