The James Song FRPSL Large Gold Medal Collection of The Chin Hills District
After the Japanese occupied Rangoon in March 1942, an emergency mail service was organised by Major A.G. McCall, District Commissioner, Lushai Hills at Aijal.
The postal runners made an eight day journey from Haka, Tiddim and Fort White via Falam to Aijal in Assam and thence to India.
By July stamps overprinted "service"
had become exhausted and ordinary postage stamps overprinted "ohms" by typewriter were approved

1942 (27 Aug.) large OHMS envelope (450x177mm; folded for display) to Fort White, bearing KGV 9p. deep green lower right corner block of sixteen (4x4) with type-written "ohms" (Type 1) and KGVI 2a. carmine with manuscript "o.h.m.s." (Type 9a), both clearly tied by "bridge" type c.d.s. and showing arrival datestamp (29.8) on reverse. Rare, the only recorded cover used from Haka-Monywa to Fort White and bearing the largest known block of the KGV 9p. Photo
