The James Song FRPSL Large Gold Medal Collection of The Chin Hills District
After the Japanese occupied Rangoon in March 1942, an emergency mail service was organised by Major A.G. McCall, District Commissioner, Lushai Hills at Aijal.
The postal runners made an eight day journey from Haka, Tiddim and Fort White via Falam to Aijal in Assam and thence to India.
By July stamps overprinted "service"
had become exhausted and ordinary postage stamps overprinted "ohms" by typewriter were approved

1942 (17 Aug.) large brown OHMS envelope (400x300mm.; folded for display) registered to Fort White, bearing 2a.6p. claret irregular block of eight (largest known) and a vertical strip of three with type-written and handstamped "ohms", the latter in violet, 4a. turquoise-blue pair with manuscript "ohms" without stops, 8a. myrtle-green with vertical type-written "ohms" (only example recorded) and 1r. purple and blue with type-written "ohms" with double spacing (only two recorded), all tied by Registered double-ring c.d.s. and showing provisional registration label with arrival datestamp (18.8) on reverse.
