Victoria (1837-1901), Pattern Proof 'Gothic' Crown, MDCCCXLVII [1847] UNDECIMO, by W Wyon, crowned 'Gothic' bust left, W.W. below truncation, rev. crowned shields cruciform, national emblems in angles, lettered edge downwards, 28.28g, 6h (ESC 288; Bull 2571; S.3883), a few hairlines and very light scattered marks in otherwise brilliant and richly cabinet toned fields, a pleasingly good extremely fine; a delightful example of Wyon's famous Crown and thus intensely desirable; a worthy 'darling' of the British numismatic series since its inception
