William and Mary (1688-1694), Halfcrown, 1689 PRIMO, first V of GVLIELMVS over A [?], first conjoined laureate and draped busts right, rev. first crowned shield, caul and interior frosted, with pearls, eight strings to harp, six billets, upwards lettered edge, 15.12g, 6h (ESC 503B; Bull 828; S.3434), a small metal flaw through nose of Queen Mary, otherwise a superlative specimen, wondrously struck up, with arresting and colourful cabinet tone overlying original mint bloom fields, practically FDC, very rare as such and undoubtedly amongst the finest known examples of this complex series
