CAROLVS • D : G : MAG • BRIT • FRAN • ET • HIB • REX • lozenge stops, sixth crowned and armoured "Briot" bust left, wearing stellate lace collar, XII behind flanked by lozenge above only, rev. • CHRISTO • AVSPICE • REGNO • (m.m.) • crowned oval-garnished shield further draped with Lion's pelt, with Maid of Erin harp with six strings, EBOR in cartouche below, 5.224g, 12h, m.m. lion passant guardant, Type 5 (Besly 2Ae; Brooker 1095/1096-1097 same dies; North 2319/20; S.2873/74), somewhat broad-struck with a minor striking fissure at 6 o'clock, otherwise lustrous with a wonderful cabinet tone to reverse, a pleasing and bolder very fine, a scarcer die pairing
