Charles I (1625-1649), Civil War Issues, Royalist York, Halfcrown, 1643-1644, (m.m.) • CAROLVS • D : G • MAG : BRIT • FRAN • ET • HIB • REX • King on horseback riding left, sash flying behind, tail trails behind, EBOR below rev. • CHRISTO • AVSPICE • REGNO • (m.m.) • crowned oval garnished shield, dividing crowned C-R, 14.394g, 12h, m.m. lion passant (Besly 3-C; Brooker 1084-1084A same dies; Bull 570; North 2314; S.2868), struck on a defective planchet with cracking to reverse, and with usual die flaws in legend, otherwise on a concave flan the result of the rocker press production method, beautifully lustrous and attractively cabinet toned, near extremely fine, a terrific example of Royalist York's Civil War Specie!
