Charles I (1625-1649), Briot's Second Milled Issue, Sixpence, 1639, the so-called 'CHISTO' Error, Tower (under King), (i.m.) CAROLVS • D : G : MAG • BRIT • FR • ET • HIB • REX • sixth crowned and armoured 'Briot' bust left, • VI • behind, rev. CHISTO • AVSPICE • REGNO • [sic] square-topped over short cross moline, four strings to harp, 2.834g, 6h, i.m. anchor and pierced mullet [on obverse only] (Brooker 730 same dies; North 2306; S.2860), minor adjustment marks to centres, otherwise uniformly cabinet toned with underlying lustre on reverse with further bluish flare, about very fine, a striking example of the 'Christ-less' Sixpence!
