Charles I (1625-1649), Group B, Shilling, 29 June - 8 November 1626, Tower (under King), (m.m.) CAROLVS D : G : MAG : BRI : FRA : ET : HI : REX, second crowned and armoured bust left, wearing ruff, XII behind, rev. (m.m.) CHRI | STO AV | SPICE | REGNO, square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, bird-headed harp, 5.834g, 6h, m.m. cross calvary (Brooker 403; Sharp B1/1; North 2218; S.2784), the odd graffiti mark, otherwise on an attractively neat round flan, richly cabinet toned with underlying lustre, a most pleasing very fine, scarce in such presentable condition
