(m.m.) • TVEATVR • VNITA • DEVS, large crowned thistle, 0.979g, 8h, m.m. escallop (North 2104; S.2659), rich dark cabinet tone, softly struck in parts, very fine; another, 1 July - 11 November 1607, rev. stop after DEVS • 1.171g, 2h, m.m. grapes (Hawkins -; North 2104; S.2659), colourfully toned and residually lustrous, very fine or marginally bolder, a rare pyx-mark; another, 12 May 1610 - 9 May 1611, as before, 0.851g, 10h, m.m. bell (Hawkins -; North 2105/1; S.2660), some crimping otherwise colourfully cabinet toned with some peripheral lustre, a bolder fine, equally rare; also, 10 May 1611 - 22 May 1612, as before, 0.931g, 5h, m.m. mullet (North 2105/1; S.2660), slightly chipped, otherwise lustrous and richly cabinet toned, a bolder very fine, scarce; and, 16 May 1616 - 15 May 1618, as before, 1.099g, 2h, m.m. book on lectern (North 2105/1; S.2660), slightly chipped, otherwise prettily cabinet toned with much underlying lustre, this extremely rare mint-mark beautifully clear!; lastly, 16 May 1618 - 9 June 1619, 0.917g, 7h, m.m. plain cross (Hawkins -; North 2105/1; S.2660), old surface marks in residually lustrous and colourfully toned fields, a bolder very fine, a scarce pyx-mark; a superb grouping of this oft-overlooked Jacobean series (6)
