Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Seventh Issue, Crown, 29 July 1601 - 14 May 1602, Tower, ELIZABETH : D : G : ANG : FRA : ET : HIBER : REGINA : 1 : crowned half-length bust left, wearing decorated dress and wide ruff, holding orb and sceptre, rev. : 1 : POSVI : DEVM : AD IVTORE M : MEVM : square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, 29.705g [458.42grns], 10h, m.m. 1 (Hawkins 460; FRC dies B/3 [Sale, lot 5]; BCW 1-1/1-a5; North 2012; S.2582), tiny striking fissures, and lightly smoothed in fields in the 18th Century, otherwise richly cabinet toned and uniformly struck up, a pleasingly bold very fine on an oversized flan, scarce in this presentable grade
