Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Third and Fourth Issues, Threefarthings, Tower (3), 1572, (m.m.) E • D • G • ROSA • SINE • SPINA, beaded inner circle only, crowned and draped bust 5B left, rev. (m.m.) CIVITAS LONDON, beaded inner circle only, square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, 0.333g, 11h, m.m. eglantine (BCW ER-2/ER-b1; North 2002; S.2571), porous and darkly cabinet toned, poor to mediocre; another, 1573, similar, 0.421g, 11h, m.m. acorn (BCW AC-1/AC-a2; North 2002; S.2571), a delightful little coin, evenly cabinet toned, very fine or better, scarce; lastly, 1574, as before, 0.323g, 8h, m.m. eglantine (BCW EG-1/EG-c; North 2002; S.2571), faint porosity, otherwise richly cabinet toned on a short flan, almost very fine (3)
