E • D • G • ROSA • SINE • SPINA, beaded inner circle only, crowned and draped bust 5B left, rev. (m.m.) CIVITAS LONDON, beaded inner circle only, square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, 0.456g, 6h, m.m. Latin Cross (BCW LC-1/LC-a; North 2002; S.2575), some crimping otherwise cabinet toned on a full round flan, a bolder fine; another, as before, 0.509g, 5h (BCW LC-1/LC-a; North 2002; S.2575), crimped and creased, otherwise lightly toned on an elliptical flan, fair or marginally better; additionally, Sixth Issue, Pennies, Tower (4), 1 February - 29 November 1583, as before, (m.m.) E : D : G : ROSA • SINE • SPINA, 0.674g, 12h, m.m. bell (BCW BL-1/BL-a; North 2017; S.2580), lightly rubbed on portrait, some weakness to portrait, otherwise cabinet toned, a bolder fine, scarce; another, 1 December 1583 - 13 February 1585, as last, 0.493g, 7h, m.m. A (BCW A-2/A-b; North 2017; S.2580), some peripheral striking softness, otherwise lightly toned, a bolder fine; another, 14 February 1585 - 30 May 1587, reading SINE • SPINE • [in error], 0.583g, 5h, m.m. escallop [over A on obverse] (BCW SC-1/SC-a; North 2017; S.2580), a trace off-struck, otherwise richly cabinet toned, the reverse with much underlying lustre, the over-mark extremely clear, a bolder fine / very fine; lastly, 1 June 1587 - 31 January 1590, as before, 0.514g, 5h, m.m. crescent (BCW CS-1/CS-a; North 2017; S.2580), a broader striking on an elliptical flan with signs of die-capping, lustrous and attractively cabinet toned, a bolder fine but for doubling to strike; an historic coin current at the time of the Spanish Armada (6)
