Henry VIII, Posthumous Issues, temp. Edward VI, Groat, 1547-1551, York, Roman lettering, third crowned bust three-quarters facing right, rev. CIVITAS EBORACI, square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, lozenge colon stops, 2.378g, 8h, no m.m. (North 1876; S.2409), slightly ragged edge, with areas of striking softness, otherwise of silvery fabric with areas of colourful huing in recesses, better than fine for strike with particularly appealing detailing to King's beard; also, Third Coinage, Halfgroat, 1544-1547, York, Lombardic lettering, crowned bust three-quarters facing right, rev. CIVITAS EBORACI, square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, 1.179g, 8h, m.m. illegible (North 1853; S.2379), in baser fabric, otherwise toned with hints of lustre in recesses, about fine (2)
