Henry III (1216-1272), 'Voided Long Cross', Pennies, London (7), i) Class 2b, Phase II ~ Provincial, 1248-1250, Nicole de Sancti Albani, (i.m.) hENRICVS REX TERCI', crowned bust facing, rev. NICOLE ON LVND, ND ligate, voided long cross and trio of pellets in angles, 1.397g [21.559grns], 10h, m.m. six-pointed star [m.m. 3] (North 985/2; S.1361A), darker cabinet tone, almost very fine; another, ii) Class 3bc, 1248-1250, Henri Frowyk, hENRICVS REX III, rounder portrait, rev. hENRI [ON LV]NDE, ND ligate, similar, 1.258g [19.414grns], 12h (North 987/1; S.1363A), waterworn scuffed and struck weak to peripheries, scarcely fine, especially for a clipped small flan; another, iii) Class 3d1, Phase III - Post-Provincial, c. 1250, Nicole de Sancti Albani, similar to last, but with pointed chin and pellets between curls, rev. NICOLE ON LVND, ND ligate, as before, 1.322g [20.402grns], 2h (North 988; S.1364A), some porosity with colourful patina in recesses, otherwise very fine; another, Class 5c1, c. 1253-1256, iv) Ricard Bonaventure, wedge-tailed R, rev. RICARD ON LVND, as before, 1.169g [18.040grns], 5h (North 993; S.1369), surface marks to face, otherwise toned, about very fine; also, v) David de Enefeld, as last, rev. DAVI ON LVNDEN, EN ligate, 1.324g [20.432grns], 3h (North 993; S.1369), richly cabinet toned, good very fine; another, Nicole de Sancti Albani, as before, rev. NICOLE ON LVND, ND ligate, 1.313g [20.263grns], 2h (Hawkins 293; Ruding 11-16; North 991/3; S.1367A), cabinet toned, good very fine; lastly, Class 5g, London, Willem de Gloucestre, 1.033g [15.942grns], 1h (North 997; S.1373), waterworn and colourfully retoned, a bolder fine (7)
