Richard I 'the Lionheart' (1189-1199), 'Shortcross' Pennies (3), c. 1190-1194, Class 3ab2, Canterbury, Meinir, hEN[RIC]VS R | EX, square cut lettering, blundered S, crowned bust facing, holding sceptre, pellets in beard, rev. + MEINIR • ON • CAN, voided short cross pommée, cross pommées in angles, 1.153g [17.794grns], 8h (SCBI Mass 744; North 967; S.1347), chipped with light porosity, cabinet toned, a bolder fine; another, c. 1194-1200, Class 4a, London, Henri(c), similar, rev. + [hEN]RIC • ON • LVND, ND ligate, as before, 1.209g [18.658grns], 4h (SCBI Mass 928; North 968/1; S.1348A), fractured inner ring, waterworn and with striking weakness, toned, mediocre to good; lastly, Posthumous Issue, c. 1200-1204, Class 4b, London, Stivene, similar, blundered S, pellets in beard, rev. + STIVENE • ON • LVN, as before, 1.266g [19.537grns], 5h (SCBI Mass 939; North 968/2; S.1348C), creased and straightened, waterworn and cabinet toned, mediocre to good (3)
