Henry II (1154-1189), 'Shortcross' Pennies, 1180-1182, Class 1b1 (2), Winchester, Gocelm, hENRICVS R | EX, no stop on obverse, seriffed Ns, crowned bust facing, holding sceptre, curls 2/5, rev. + GOCELM • ON • WIN, seriffed Ns, voided short cross pommée, cross pommées in angles, 1.426g [22.007grns], 2h, i.m. cross pattée (SCBI Mass 499 = Winchester Mint 2458, dies Kk; North 963; S.1344), waterworn and lightly toned, about fine, only the Mass specimen previously recorded by Harvey from these dies, very rare thus; another, Worcester, Godwine, hENRICVS • R | EX, seriffed Ns, crowned bust facing, holding sceptre, curls 2/5, rev. + GODWINE • ON • WIR, seriffed Ns, voided short cross pommée, cross pommées in angles, 1.482g [22.871grns], 5h (SCBI Mass 521 same dies; North 963; S.1344), waterworn but lightly cabinet toned, about fine, a scarcer provincial mint (2)
