1872 (14 Aug.) entire letter from Buenos Ayres to Naples, Italy marked par Douro bearing 1d. (pl.122), 3d. (pl. 7) and 1/- (pl.5) cancelled by "B32" obliterator, on the front London paid (13.9) c.d.s., the reverse with despatch and arrival (17.9) c.d.s., the 1/- with trimmed perforation at right not detracting the fine appearance. The R.M.S. Douro shipwrecked around the Bay of Biscay with its gold treasure on 31 March 1882, after more than a century the Douro treasure was rescued and entrusted to Spink and Son in London for a legendary sale in November 1996.
