1843 (25 Nov.) entire letter from Rome to London bearing 1841-53 1d. red, Plate 38 applied tied by superb number '4' in Maltese Cross, charge mark deleted, "direzione di roma" c.d.s. (28 Nov.). with "t.s." (Transit Sarde of Sardinia) and red French entry datestamp alongside, redirected on arrival to Bridgewater, necessitating the 1d. franking. On reverse, London (9 Dec) and Bridgewater (10 Dec.) d.s.; a spectacular entire, bearing a 1d. red, originating from overseas, with the rarest number in Maltese Cross cancellation.
