Henry III (1216-1272), 'Short Cross' Penny, c. 1242, Class 8a1, London, Nichole de Sancti Albani, + hENRICVS [R | EX], tall lettering, [curule X], new crowned bust facing crowned, holding trefoil-tipped sceptre, rev. + NIChOLE ON LVN, short cross voided with quatrefoil in each angle, 1.02g, 3h, i.m. cross pattée (Stewartby VIIIa, Pl 2/40; North 981; S.1357A), small striking split and peripheral stress marks, clipped as typical for issue, otherwise field toned, struck details very fine for issue, and extremely rare as a 'true' coin
