The L'Abbaye Collection: Part Two | George II (1727-1760), 'Plain' Shilling, 1728, young laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left, rev. crowned shields cruciform, nine strings to harp, seven hearts to semée, angles plain, edge obliquely milled, 7h (Pywell-Phillips 330; ESC 1191 [R2]; Bull 1698 [R2] ~ albeit nine strings not noted; S.3699), lightly flecked but richly cabinet toned, with hues of underlying lustre, an attractively uniform strike for this one-year type, almost extremely fine, rare thus
