The L'Abbaye Collection: Part Two | George I (1714-1727), 'Roses and Plumes' Shilling, 1726, GEORGIVS D G M BR FR ET HIB REX F D (no stops on obverse), second laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. 26 • BRVN ET • L • DVX S • R • I • A : TH • ET • EL • 17, crowned shields cruciform, eight strings to harp, six hearts to semée, roses and plumes in angles, edge obliquely milled, 5h (Pywell-Phillips -; ESC 1186 [R5]; Bull 1602 [R5]; S.3649), light flecking in otherwise beautifully cabinet toned and lustrous fields, almost very fine, OF THE HIGHEST RARITY, especially in this condition, a lauded key date of series with fewer than ten specimens known in all grades
