The L'Abbaye Collection: Part Two | George I (1714-1727), 'WCC' Shilling, 1724, Welsh Copper Company, GEORGIVS • D ' G • M • BR • FR • ET • HIB • REX • F • D • second laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, W.C.C. below truncation, rev. 24 • BRVN ET • L • DVX S • R • I • A : TH • ET • EL • 17, crowned shields cruciform, six strings to harp, six hearts to semée, interlocking Cs and plumes in angles, edge obliquely milled, 5h (Pywell-Phillips -; ESC 1182 [R2]; Bull 1595 [R2]; S.3650), a really well-balanced example of this celebrated series rarity, lightly toned with underlying lustre and peripheral colourful hues, a most pleasing coin, good very fine, rare, especially so in this exemplary state
