                        The L'Abbaye Collection: Part Two | George I (1714-1727), 'Roses and Plumes' Shilling, 1723, GEORGIVS • D ' G • M • BR • FR • ET • HIB • REX • F • D •  second laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. 23 • BRVN ET • L • DVX S • R • I • A : TH • ET • EL • 17, crowned shields cruciform, seven strings to harp, six hearts to semée, roses and plumes in angles, edge obliquely milled, 6h (Pywell-Phillips -; ESC 1179; Bull 1593; S.3649), a trace of porosity, otherwise richer, darker cabinet tone to obverse, offset by a 'halo' of colouration radiating out rather aptly from the rays of the central Garter star, about very fine, very scarce
