The L'Abbaye Collection: Part Two | George I (1714-1727), 'Roses and Plumes' Shilling, 1721 over 0, GEORGIVS • D ' G • M • BR • FR • ET • HIB • REX • F • D • first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. 21 • BRVN ET • L • DVX S • R • I • A : TH • ET • EL • 17, crowned shields cruciform, seven strings to harp, five hearts to semée, roses and plumes in angles (R-P-R-P, from 2nd quarter clockwise), edge obliquely milled, 6h (Pywell-Phillips 273; ESC 1171; Bull 1578; S.3645), a glorious example with uniform gunmetal tone overlying lustrous original fields further accentuated with sharp blue, red and orange hues to peripheries, the overdate extraordinarily clear, a really good very fine, and rare in this fine state
