The L'Abbaye Collection of Early Milled Shillings: Part Two
P Wincott, by private treaty, 7 March 1997 - £900
Since our record-breaking auction result at 2021 'Virtual NYINC' (Spink 367, 17 January 2021, lot 302), further analysis has confirmed the R over A in GRATIA error is a standard feature of the obverse die for the 1674 overdate Shilling. The date is nevertheless seldom encountered, rendering Bull's rarity accreditation accurate for the purposes of the inclined collector
