Only three Efficiency Medals 'Guernsey' with Type 1 bust were issued. There were just seven issued in the reign of King George VI.
Gaston John Pinsard was born in Jersey in 1919 and during the Second World War served with the 2/4th Battalion, Hampshire Regiment. He was both wounded in action in Italy on 9 September 1943 and then was 'mentioned' for his services (London Gazette 23 September 1943, refers).
It later transpired that Pinsard had been at the infamous Haut de la Garenne School for Boys, during which time he was abused. In 2016, Pinsard was himself jailed for historical indecent assaults.
