(x) South Africa 1877-79, 1 clasp, 1879 (1698. Pte F. Currand. 90th Foot), very fine
Francis Currand enlisted at Glasgow on 10 January 1878 to serve as a Private in the 59th Sub District. Soon afterwards, he appeared on the muster rolls for the 60th Brigade and served at Hamilton in Scotland until March 1879. During this time he was imprisoned briefly in early August 1878 and served with the 'Civil power' from 8-23 February 1879. He transferred to the 90th Regiment of Foot on 30 May 1879 with whom he served in Zululand from May to September 1879, and then in South Africa from 1-20 October 1979. Currand then served at Fort William in Calcutta from January 1880 before seeing service at Cawnpore from January 1882 until proceeding home to England on 27 January 1884. He was discharged to the Army Reserve a few months later on 15 March 1884 with a view to live in Glasgow; sold with copied service details.
