Maharajpoor Star 1843 (Asst. Surgn. E. Campbell Govr. General's Body Gd.), good very fine

Edward Campbell was born in 1817 and was appointed Assistant Surgeon in the Bengal Medical Establishment in November 1839. He served in Afghanistan, including at the Storming of Istaliff (Medal), thence with the Governor General's Body Guard at the Battle of Maharajpoor in 1843 (Bronze Star). He saw further active service during the Sutlej Campaign (Medal & 3 clasps), being advanced Surgeon in November 1853 and Surgeon-Major in January 1860. Having also served in the Sonthal Rebellion, Campbell died in London on 16 January 1890; sold together with copied research.
