The early-19th Century officer's waist sash worn by Lieutenant-Colonel H. Alexander, who served as a subaltern with the 28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot during the Peninsular War and was wounded at the Battle of Vittoria, of crimson netted silk, the ends finished with cords and knots and therefore of the 'Light Infantry' pattern, in remarkably good condition for age, free of holes, rips or tears, all complete and thus a rare survivor
