Great Britain: Waterlow & Sons Limited, an important group of 23 certificates for one B share of £100, 18[76], #28-35 and #255-266, the first batch signed by Alfred Jameson Waterlow and Alfred Thomas Layton as directors and the second batch signed by Philip H. Waterlow (later Sir Philip Waterlow, 2nd Baronet). Waterlow & Sons originated in 1810 as printers and stationers in London, The company was formed in 1876 but due to a family dispute it was split and Alfred Waterlow and Alfred Layton formed Waterlow Bros & Layton Ltd. The companies were united in 1920. Acquired by De La Rue in 1961. VF-EF and previously very rare. We have only sold one example and that was in 2008 for a hammer price of £180 (23).
