(x) An unusual Long Service and Good Conduct Medal awarded to Regimental Quartermaster-Sergeant D. J. Brady, Royal Irish Fusiliers, who later received a wartime commission to the Pioneer Corps

David Joseph Brady was born at Tyrrellspass, County Westmeath, Ireland in 1903, later moving to Dublin. Attesting for the Royal Dublin Fusiliers on 4 February 1920 he transferred to the King's Liverpool Regiment on 14 June 1922. Later transferring again to the Royal Irish Fusiliers on 30 May 1937 it was with them that he was awarded the L.S. & G.C.

Returning to the King's (Liverpool) Regiment prior to the Second World War, Brady was serving as Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant with them in 1942; he was Commissioned Lieutenant (Quartermaster) with the Royal Pioneer Corps on 30 September 1942. With the end of the war the commission was confirmed and Brady was further promoted Captain (Quartermaster) on 1 November 1947.
