James Arthur Frederick Smith was born in Ireland in 1890; upon his marriage in August 1912 he is noted as a Tailor's Cutter, resident in Battersea, with his father's profession being stated as 'Sergeant Major, R.A.M.C.'.; Smith junior died on 22 October 1970, aged 80.
