Walter John Rimen was born at Wimborne, Dorset on 21 March 1906 and entered the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class in February 1926.
By the outbreak of hostilities in September 1939, he was serving as a Stoker Petty Officer in the cruiser H.M.S.
