Warwick James Fletcher was born on 18 March 1880 at Saltash, Cornwall and was a Baker before joining the Royal Navy which he did in 1903 as a Boy Seaman 2nd Class and served until 1912 before transferring to the Coast Guard. He received his L.S. & G.C. medal in April 1913. Fletcher was recalled in 1914 and spent a great deal of his time on the Cruiser Caronia seeing service in Irish Waters, Western Atlantic and on both the North American and West Indies Station. He was discharged in 1920.
