Peter Hugh Levett was born at Rawalpindi, India on 24 October 1926. He firstly served in the ranks (No. 6101212) of The Queen's Regiment, from which he was commissioned into the Indian Army on 15 July 1945. Promoted Lieutenant on 15 January 1946, he served with the 8th Battalion, 13th Frontier Force Rifles in Java, Netherlands East Indies 1945-46. That Battalion served at Buitenzorg, their primary duty was to protect around 1,200 recently released European POW's - fighting against the Nationalist insurgents ensued on several occasions. By the time the Regiment left Java in May 1946 it had suffered 18 casualties.

Reverted to service with the British Army, he was made Captain in the 10th Gurkha Rifles on 19 June 1954. Levett is understood to have joined the Federation of Malaya Police, before moving onto the Nigerian Police Force. He went home on leave in March 1958 (when married) and also in March 1960 (by then single). Perhaps further entitled to the U.N. Medal for Congo; sold together with copied research.
