Frederick Richard Dickinson was born on 4 June 1898 at Agra, India. He was commissioned on 12 September 1917, arriving in India the same day. He was appointed into the Indian Army on 22 December 1917 serving with the 81st Pioneers; 20th Horse, March 1918; 155 Pioneers, November 1918; 61 Pioneers, June 1919; 12 Pioneers, 1920; 1st Sappers and Miners, March 1921; 10-1 Pioneers, June 1923; 2-1 Pioneers, 18 October 1923; 2 Madras Pioneers, 11 May 1929; 3-7 Rajput Regiment; Adjutant U.T.C. to 28 February 1934; Transferred to the Special Unattached List 1 November 1935.
Served as a Company Officer from 1 August 1938 with the 7th Rajput Regiment. He was appointed to Flight Lieutenant within the Royal Air Force Reserve General Duties Branch on 21 September 1938. Granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel on reversion to the Special Unemployed List on 17 November 1942. Dickinson retired on 4 June 1948 and died on 10 May 1957.
