C. E. Yates was commissioned on 11 October 1917 with the Royal Flying Corps. Confirmed in his rank the next month, he was posted to the stores department, serving in the temporary rank of Captain between 15 January-30 April 1919. In that time Yates was also advanced Lieutenant on 1 March 1919 but finally demobilised on 26 August 1919; sold together with copied London Gazette entries and service papers.
