Pair: Private A. Lowther, Gordon Highlanders, who died of wounds on 31 August 1918

Alexander Rankin Lowther (also spelled Lawther) was born the son of Alexander and Martha Lawther, of 2 Henderson Street, Paisley. Attesting with the Gordon Highlanders at Paisley he was posted to the 4th Battalion in France. Here the battalion saw heavy fighting during the German Spring Offensive and the Allied counter-attack in the Hundred Days Offensive. During this fighting Lowther was mortally wounding, passing away from his injuries on 31 August 1918. He is commemorated upon the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, France; sold together with copied research including a Commonwealth War Graves Certificate and Soldiers Died in the Great War transcript.
