Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal (4135 Pte G. Kilvin, Rl. Scots); King's South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (4135 Corpl: G. Kivlin. Rl: Scots.), light contact marks and polishing, otherwise very fine (2)

Gilbert Kivlin was born at St.Giles, Edinburgh, and served with the 3rd Battalion Royal Scots in the Second Boer War. He was originally discharged on 2 April 1902, time expired. Kivlin attested for the Duke of Edinburgh's Own Royal Garrison Artillery Militia on 18 April 1902 and was discharged from them on 18 April 1904. He attested for the Royal Scots (Special Reserve) on 12 September 1914 joining the 3rd (Reserve) Battalion serving at Home only but was discharged on the 4 June 1915 as being Medically unfit. Despite having a heart problem he eventually died on the 26 June 1958, aged 85.
