Three: Lieutenant-Colonel W. Little, 88th Regiment of Foot (Connaught Rangers), the first soldier of his Regiment to be commissioned in the field

Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (Captn. W. Little. 88th Regt. 1855.), contemporarily engraved naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, contemporary tailor's copy marked 'J.B.'; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (Serjt. Major W. Little 88th Regt. 1854.), mounted on triple buckle riband bar by Hunt & Roskell with gold pin, this last with replacement suspension, very fine (3)

William Little was the first soldier of his unit to be commissioned Ensign in the field on 10 August 1854. He was made Adjutant on 15 November 1854 and eventually became Major of the Depot Battalion. Made an unattached Lieutenant-Colonel in April 1870, he retired from the Army in August 1873 (The Crimean Campaign With the Connaught Rangers, refers).
