The Army L.S. & G.C. Medal awarded to Corporal H. Purvis, King's Dragoon Guards, who was killed in an air raid on London on 18 September 1940 whilst serving with 51 Training Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps

Harry Purvis was born in St Mary's, Birmingham in 1911. He enlisted in the British Army on 25 June 1919 and joined the 15th Hussars after completing his training. He transferred to the 19th Hussars in November 1919 then serving in India. He subsequently transferred to the 4th Hussars in 1921 and later the King's Dragoon Guards in February 1935. In 1940 Purvis was a Sergeant with the 51st Training Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps and was killed in an air raid on London on 18 September 1940. He is buried in the Brookwood Military Cemetery.
