Francis Willman was born on 29 September 1898 at Leamington Spa, Warwickshire and was farming in Canada at the time he enlisted at Hamilton, Ontario in June 1916. Willman served in France and besides earning his M.M. was admitted to hospital on several occasions suffering with impetigo. He was discharged in July 1919 and intended to return to Warwickshire.
