Geoff Walker was born at Maple Road, Ashtead in November 1914 and was still living there on the outbreak of the Second World War. Enlisting with the Royal Air Force in July 1940 he served largely in an Air Traffic Control position in Britain. When he was posted overseas he went first to North Africa before joining the Allied armies on their invasion of Sicily and up through Italy.

Returning to Britain Walker was soon posted overseas again, this time to France in the wake of D-Day. He continued to service after the war, being stationed at R.A.F. Innsworth in 1957. His commanding officer provided the following statement upon his discharge on 17 May 1959:

'Since entering the RAF in 1940 Sgt. Walker has earned consistently good reports by his conscientious attitude and quiet efficiency. The majority of his time has been spent in the a responsible position in the control of aircraft, where his unflustered manner & steady calm have been of considerable advantage.
Practically the while of Sgt. Walker's spare time is devoted to his studies, of music, and to the development of interest, in the subject. His work in this connection has been much appreciated.'

Upon leaving the RAF Walker worked as a tuner and instrument repair man at the Institute of Musical Instrument Technology in London. Reaching the remarkable age of 100 he died on 22 January 2015; sold together with a typed biography and original service, named box of issue and discharge book.
