John Norton attested into the Royal Artillery in 1940. He is noted as transferring to the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry 12 January 1944. His enlistment number also notes (Dis York P/59). Confirmed on roll for S.E. Asia clasp as rank of Private but later promoted to Lance Corporal.
