A Great War casualty's Victory Medal and Memorial Plaque to Sergeant J. H. Lowe, Royal Air Force, who was killed in action on 30 August 1918

John Henry Lowe was an Accountants Clerk prior to Great War service and enlisted on 14 January 1916 as Airman 2nd Class. Promoted to Acting Corporal on 12 August 1916, Airman 1st Class on 1 September 1916, Corporal on 1 October 1916.

He embarked for overseas service on 23 March 1917 and was promoted to Acting Sergeant 1 July 1917 and to Sergeant 1 August 1917, and became a Sergeant Clerk with the Royal Air Force on 1 April 1918.

Lowe was killed in action in an enemy raid on Azelet in 30 August 1918, aged 21, whilst serving with 104 Squadron and is buried in the Charmes Military Cemetery, Essegney and was the son of Francis A. and Helen A. Lowe, of 4, Tremlett Grove, Junction Rd., Highgate, London; sold together with an Identity bracelet made from a French 1 Franc coin engraved 'J. H. Lowe RFC CE 18288', a further coin engraved 'J. H. Lowe 18288 R.F.C.' and Royal Flying Corps silk postcard.
