George William Gregory was the son of William Gregory of Uppingham, worked as an Engineer prior to enlistment. Entering the war with the Royal Flying Corps on 10 October 1916. Upon the formation of the Royal Air Force he joined the newly formed No. 114 Squadron at Lahore undertaking missions over the North-West Frontier. As such he was there when the Third Anglo-Afghan War broke out, they were re-equipped with Bristol fighters in 1919 but disbanded in 1920. Gregory transferred to the Royal Air Force Reserve on 21 January 1920, he died at Uppingham in 1950 being survived by his son Squadron Leader Gregory.

George Richard Gregory was commissioned Pilot Officer on 14 August 1943 and advanced Flying Officer on 14 February 1944 with the General Duties Branch. Retaining his rank after the war he was granted a permanent commission in 1948 and eventually reached the rank of Squadron Leader. Called back to service for the Korean War Gregory never saw action, instead acting as a trainer in Cyprus. He retired to Bourne, Lincolnshire; sold together with a typed index card.
